How to choose a SLT and make it work for your child

Choosing an SLT?  Here’s some help:

  1. Choose an SLT skilled in working with children in your child’s age group
  2. Ensure s/he is experienced working with childhood speech and language disorders
  3. Work with the SLT to encourage and reinforce your child’s learning
  4. Be honest about how much practice you have managed to do!
  5. Expect the best from your child
  6. Be realistic – Rome wasn’t built in a day!
  7. Ask about anything you don’t understand, or that worries you straight away

To find an SLT near to you visit www.helpwithtalking.org, or give us a call on 0121 602 0882 if you would like to ask any further questions.  We will always do our best to help you.
